The Ask
Walmart clients wanted to champion in a new era for Walmart World (an associate facing publication) by re-imagining the look and content to focus on celebrating hard working associates. Each quarterly issue contained stories and spreads that were unique to each issue, resulting in no two issues looking alike.
The Process
Monthly brainstorms to gather content ideas and identify story leads.
I lead a small team of designers on visual execution and photo shoot concepting.
Worked hand-in-hand with various writers to ensure story and visuals aligned.
Designed the publication and ensured visuals met brand standards.
Attended photoshoots,, traveled to various stores to gather stories and photos.
Maintained budget, schedules, and various due dates.
Wrote a multi-page onboarding and best practices guide to ensure any new or current teammates could have the latest information for the publication.
Developed style guides outlining type styles, colors, and photography requirements.
The Solution
Collaborated with Walmart clients on story leads while leading a nimble team of designers to design a completely unique issue every quarter. Along with special one-off issues for Walmart’s annual shareholder meeting.
